Quimby remains
In 2010, while script supervising the movie Apartment 4E, I spoke to the director Russell Sharman about his plans to drive cross country with his wife and spend a year in Los Angeles. Despite living in Los Angeles myself and originating from the East Coast, I had never driven cross country. I expressed my excitement and my desire to join them. His wife then said words that she probably regretted from the moment they slipped out of her mouth - "You guys should film a movie during the drive."
I wrote Quimby Remains, a dark comedy about a half brother and sister whose father's death pushes them to drive cross country in a classic Camaro. We started December 28, 2010, rang in the New Year, and ended on January 10, 2011. We shot in Charlotte, New Orleans, the outskirts of Austin, the Grand Canyon, Venice Beach, and many stops in between. Unfortunately, the film was left completely on the cutting room floor but the learning experience was amazing. The Twitter account remains, although the images from it have disappeared into the crannies of the Internet.
